International Workshop on Metabarcoding Analysis and Metagenome
International Workshop on Metabarcoding Analysis and Metagenome
International Workshop on Metabarcoding Analysis and Metagenome
15-17 December 2020
Compiled jointly by
DAFNAE, Padova University, Italy and IBAB Bio-IT Center, Bengaluru, India
Every living thing in any ecosystem is controlled by a variety of substances such as Bacteria, Virus, Archaea, fungi, and low eukaryotes. Among these, microbes (Bacteria, Virus, and Archaea) are the most abundant, widespread, and longest living species on earth and increasingly form the basis of our biosphere. Studying the biology of any living thing or ecosystem will always be incomplete without proper understanding of its microbial profile and the interaction of the host-microbe. This branch of computer biology is known as metagenomics and is one of the emerging fields of biological research. The workshop will focus on measuring the diversity of insects in various habitats such as human intestines, soil, plants, sea / fresh water, etc., and the challenges associated with this sector.
The University of Padova, Italy and the Bio-IT Center, IBAB, and Bengaluru came together to organize a three-day online hands-on workshop on Metagenome analysis from 15-17 December 2020. The conference will present participants in the basic skills of bioinformatics, the basic concepts of metagenomics, explain strategies for clarifying the biological community, and present various programs with presentations from experts. We will provide hands-on training in the UNIX command line, the QIIME pipeline to determine viral formation (including alpha and beta variants), and complete metagenome sequences using real data.
Target Audience: This study is aimed at students, researchers, and professionals who wish to use bioinformatics techniques to study biology but may not have adequate training / awareness in this emerging field of research. Ph.D. Scholars / postgraduate practitioners / researchers / researchers involved in experimental biological research are strongly encouraged to use it. However, the course will also be useful for those pursuing a Master's in Biotechnology / Life Sciences / Microbiology. Teachers
from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institutions and research institutes in the state of Karnataka are also encouraged to apply.
The 40 nominees for this meeting will come in person.

About Bio-IT Centre:
The Bio-IT Research and Training Centre (Bio-IT Centre) has been established at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) in 2010 with support from the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeITY), the Government of India and the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka. Bio-IT Centre has a state-of-art sequencing facility with the high-throughput sequencer HiSeq 2500 and several accessory equipments such as a Hi-Scan system for Illumina bead array and microarray-based imaging, Qubit, C-bot, Covaris, Bio-analyzer and Agilent 2200 Tape-station for the processing of DNA and RNA samples, Stratagene Mx 3000 for Real-Time PCR, and 3500 Dx Genetic Analyzer for capillary electrophoresis based sequencing. Bio-IT Centre provides sequencing and/or analysis services in either collaborative or service mode. The Centre also organizes introductory and advanced workshops in Bioinformatics and NGS analysis regularly.
