As a participant in our Innovation Cup, you get the opportunity to connect with top students from around the world, work in teams to create new ideas for unmet medical needs, and further business case with the support of experienced professionals. We offer EUR20,000 for the winning team and EUR5,000 for the second prize. And to make things even more appealing, options for using the best business plans will be explored.
The summer camp for the Innovation Cup takes place from 26 June - 2 July 2021, near Frankfurt, Germany. Your travel, accommodation and meals expenses are covered by Merck.
HOW DOES THE KINDNESS GROW Merck Innovation Cup 2021
As part of the Innovation Cup, we invite you to join a summer camp that will last a week, so that we can work together in a very exciting environment.
Work as part of a team to generate new ideas in the field: oncology, immuno-oncology, autoimmunity, small molecules drug discovery, protein engineering and testing, to do digitalization.
Evaluate your ideas from a technical and business perspective and create a convincing business plan
Learn the basics of R&D within the pharmaceutical industry
Network with the most active students from all over the world
Understand how products can be successfully acquired, developed, and marketed
Get to know Merck and find out about career options
A judge consisting of senior Merck investigators, as well as external managers and experts, will select effective business plans for first and second place.
On the last day of the summer camp, a conference will be organized with the apostles of previous plans for the Innovation Cup. Learn what alumni are doing today and expand your network of great designers.
Following the Innovation Cup, ways to use the most effective business plans will be explored. We will definitely keep you posted.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A COW TO GROW GRACE Merck Innovation Cup 2021
Applications from postgrad students in health sciences working for a PhD in biology, medicine, biotech, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacy, engineering or related fields. Postdoctoral students are more welcome to apply, such as advanced MBA students or MBA graduates who have an interest in the pharmaceutical business and life sciences background.

The team oncology will work on new innovative approaches for the targeted treatment of cancer with small molecules or proteins.

The team autoimmunity will work on new innovative approaches for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as e.g. Lupus.
DRUG DISCOVERY TECHNOLOGIES
The team drug discovery technologies will work on new innovative approaches to discover and optimize new small molecular drugs or new innovative approaches to design, screen or optimize new protein drugs.
