Science Fellowships for PhD-
Arturo Falaschi 2021 ICGEB Fellowship

ICGEB offers a competitive Pre-doctoral
Competition in Life Sciences to highly motivated scientists who want to pursue
PhD research studies within the scientific context of the world. Partnerships
include participating in a competitive research program, access to high quality
institutions, participation in ICGEB meetings, Seminars and Journal Clubs with
competitive funding, and full access to scholarships and health insurance.
Application: Applicants should contact
the ICGEB Group / PI leader of choice of a letter of recommendation, to ensure
the availability of lab space and to specify a research project proposal that
will form an integral part of the program.
Eligibility: Applicants must be a ICGEB
Member State. The Indians of South and South Africa, ICGEB States, are not
allowed to apply for ICGEB Fsocis in their country.
Level requirements:
• ICGEB Trieste applicants must hold a
BSc (Honors) degree; Applicants for ICGEB Cape Town and New Delhi must hold an
MSc degree.
• Applicants need good working knowledge
of the English language, supported by a training certificate (TOEFL, Cambridge
certificate (or equivalent).
Candidates in Trieste, Italy must be under 32 years of age at the time of application (eg next birthday 31/03/1988). There is no age limit for applications such as ICGEB New Delhi and Cape Town.
Financial support:
Duration: A 3-year PhD course combined
with the opportunity to extend 1 year.
Monthly Support: Trieste (Italy): Euro
1,300, New Delhi (India): US $ 1,020, Cape Town (South Africa): ZAR 12,500.
Departure: participation includes the
provision of travel expenses from the student's home country to the ICGEB lab
at the beginning of the relationship and the provision of return at the end of
the relationship.
The provision of medical health insurance
is given for the duration of the relationship.
University tuition fees are covered
throughout the PhD enrollment period.
Visa / residence permit application and
renewal costs are refunded.
Participation support for meetings and
lessons is usually provided by the group leader / PI.
ICGEB does not make financial
arrangements, and cannot provide administrative support to family members of
participants in this program.

Selection:
All applications will be forwarded to the ICGEB Communications Officer in the country where you are national. Authorization is a basic requirement for a relationship to be granted. The ICGEB Collaborative Selection Committee will review approved and finalized applications received on the closing date. The main options include the scientific merit of the project, the CV credentials of the candidate and the potential benefit of your country. Candidates will be notified of this result by email if possible after the last application date.
ICGEB Trieste Accommodation:
• ICGEB Trieste: Housing Service is
managed by the Admissions Office - Friuli Venezia Giulia.
• ICGEB New Delhi: Guest House is owned
on campus, with twin sharing, at a low cost.
• ICGEB Cape: Accommodation subsidies
are provided to other persons. Arrangements agreed upon before arrival.
